National Apprenticeship Week puts down roots for STEM

This year’s National Apprenticeship Week in the UK runs from 5 to 11 February. The initiative targets all industries and sectors, but for the electronics industry, there is a particular need for programmes that equip apprentices with STEM skills.

Among the companies and organisations taking part, there is the STEM Hub, which will be hosting live career talks by STEM ambassadors from the National Physical Laboratory, rail and air.

The schedule includes an ambassador from NPL, Gatwick Airport, Network Rail, the NHS and Kier Construction. Places can be booked via the website where there is also a library of pre-recorded videos of apprenticeship talks at the STEM InSIGHT  section of the website.

There will be events all week across the UK, connecting businesses and apprentices, including those held at Keele, Milton Keynes, Leicester and Nottingham Trent Universities. There is a ‘toolkit’ to plan and host events available from National Apprentice Week.
