Humax H7 Android TV set-top supports AV1 and HDR10

Humax has announced what it describes as “the world’s most advanced Android TV device platform”, the Humax H7.

The set-top box supports both the high-definition video codec AV1 and HDR10 video technology, highlights the company, for better picture quality and contrast.

Based around a Broadcom MIPS 24K chip for fast data processing, it expands Humax’s portfolio of Android TV systems to B2B customers and includes support for “Wi-Fi 6” (IEEE 802.11ax, a draft Wi-Fi specification standard.


“With this innovative Android TV product and our Humax E2E solutions, Humax can quickly supply products that offer a variety of content and services to our customers, paving the way to lead the Android TV OS market,” said Jeff Kim, EVP of Worldwide Sales at Humax.


The South Korean company plans to launch the H7 in Europe and Asia before the end of the year.

  1. I do wonder if you actually lived with this box for a while.?
    Major issues with lip sync, constantly need to reboot to solve it.
    Unable to play from usb or network without apps. Picture and sound well below the FVP5000. You can’t back up recordings to USB nor transfer to the hard disk.
    Lots of potential, sadly very poor implementation.
    The app only talks when on the same network too, so of little real use. Streaming on a tablet whilst someone else is watching on the device creates even more synch issues.
    I bought it back in November, wish I’d sent it back. Persevered as I expected the issues to be sorted quickly with updates.
    Humax peaked with the Fox HDR which was brilliant and worked really well. The 5000 was ok, but could forgive for the extra features.
