Chipset for ADSL2/2plus

Analog Devices has begun shipping its EaglePLUS ADSL2/2plus customer premises equipment (CPE) chipset, capable of transmission rates of up to 24Mbit/s.  EaglePLUS is compliant with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) ADSL2/2plus standards, and has established interoperability with the Alcatel 7300 Advanced Services Access Manager (ASAM) in ADSL2plus mode, said the firm.

The EaglePLUS chipset is based on Aware’s StratiPHY2+ datapump technology, that implements all required and optional ADSL2plus specifications, as well as legacy ADSL standards. It is compliant with the ITU standard ADSL2plus (G.992.5), which doubles the downstream bandwidth up to 24Mbit/s, resulting in significant downstream data rate increases on shorter phone lines.

The chipset also incorporates the benefits of Reach-Extended ADSL2 (RE-ADSL2), which was approved by the ITU in October 2003 (ADSL2 Annex L).  RE-ADSL2 uses new power spectral density (PSD) masks that increase ADSL’s reach by up to 40 per cent, taking ADSL to customers outside the traditional 18,000 foot limit.

EaglePLUS samples are available now.
