The new higher power rated fuses provide expanded over current/over temperature protection selection options in the compact 1206 footprint to save board real estate or to reduce design size and costs.
The latest additions to the portfolio use the company’s freeXpansion technology that enables the fuse to handle higher currents and voltages and improve its resistance stability, claimed the company.
The additional fuses increase the number of options in the MF-NSMF family to 34 with a broad range of hold current (Ihold) options, from 0.05A to 2.0A and multiple elevated rated voltage (Vmax) options, from 6Vdc to 60Vdc. The fuses are suitable for over current and over temperature within specified product parameters in low DC voltage ports such as those commonly found in USB, HDMI, HDTV, PCs, laptops, data centres and portable consumer electronics.
The 1206 packages can help designers meet various requirements such as for 16V max, said Bourns. The package size saves 67% board space compared to the company’s Model MF-NSMF110/16-2 in the 1812 package size.
The polymer PTC resettable fuses are available now and are RoHS compliant and halogen free.
