The young engineers will work on real projects with the company that designs mixed signal Asics, which are used in mobile phones, sat navs and hearing aids.

Robyn Moates, who is reading Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Cambridge, had placements in 2011 and 2012 with automotive electronics company Schrader, where she was talent spotted and referred to sister company Swindon.

She will spend three months working on a development project with technical director, Clive Bunney.

Tom Cable is about to start the final year of his MEng degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol, sponsored by Swindon.

Tom spent the last year as an affiliate student at Seattle University.

He was placed with Swindon through the UK Electronic Skills Foundation (UKESF) scholarship programme in 2012 and is returning for an eight week placement.

“It’s a pleasure to welcome these youngsters into our company and to help in their formation as engineers,” said company managing director, Geoff Hall.

“The UK leads the world in Asic technology, and we need to develop the next generation to keep us there,” added Hall.
