“The laboratory’s capabilities will cover IEC 62368-1:2018 – EN IEC 62368-1:2020/A11:2020 and IEC 62368-3:2017 – EN IEC 62368-3:2020 wireless product qualification testing for product types including tablets, routers, printers and audio-visual equipment,” according to the company. “EN 61010 would be applicable for laboratory-based equipment with wireless capability.”

Alongside new equipment to support the additional services, the company has taken on one new engineer and is planning to recruit more.

The electrical safety includes flammability and electric shock hazards, and is done in support of CE, UKCA and North American legislation.

“This investment gives customers based in the south of the UK quicker access to an Element laboratory for their electrical safety testing requirements,” said Element executive v-p Matt Hopkinson.

The company also has labs in Hull and Hitchin. Wimborne also offers pre-testing advisory services.
