“Engineers can use the software and wireless MCUs, such as the CC3235SF and CC2652R7, to create low-power secure battery-powered smart home and industrial automation IoT applications that connect with devices across proprietary ecosystems,” according to the company.
Matter is a royalty-free connectivity protocol developed by Matter’s alliance, formerly the Zigbee Alliance, which runs over Thread and Wi-Fi network layers, and uses Bluetooth Low Energy for commissioning. “By providing a unified application layer based on proven technologies, manufacturers can leverage this open-source protocol to accelerate IoT development,” said TI, which is a board member of the alliance and a developer of Matter – as well as a contributor to the Thread Group and the Wi-Fi Alliance.
TI claims four year battery life from its wireless MCUs while using five-second polling. For long-range use the integrated power amplifier can produce +20dBm at 2.4GHz from 101mA consumption.
