We’ve seen human carrying drone developments from the likes of Ehang of China and Airbus with the aim of selling fleets of them to taxi operators.
Now, Volocopter of Germany, says it’s had $30 million from Daimler to develop a five-seater VTOL flying EV for taxi use. The plan is to demo it in Q4.
Flying taxis are catching the entrepreneurial imagination.
Besides Ehang, Airbus and Volocopter, there are Lilium Jet and eVolo of Germany and Terrafugia and Joby Aviation of the US.
Crikey Fred, out of the frying pan into the fire,
On a similar subject , sort of, for passengers who get crippled in a self driving car accident, a brilliant solution to the problem is of course self driving wheel chairs. Ouch!

Ha Ha SEPAM, very true
It is interesting to see the difference in culture here. Volocopter plans demo in Q4 and we all understand it means Q4 of 2017.
Airbus, had it entered into such plans a “demo” would have been a purely graphical presentation with near-adequate effects and a cliched music track. And it would be Q4 in 2019, at the earliest.
