Vox Power takes medical power supplies in hand

Vox Power has announced the VCCS300M, described as a compact, conduction cooled, single output power supply designed specifically for medical systems.

Measuring 4in x 2in x 1.61in and weighing 310g, it delivers 300W of silent, fanless power. Where the application or environment demands it, the units can be cooled by convection or forced air, says the company.

With a claimed 95% efficiency, other features include excellent low leakage and touch current levels and protection against over voltage and over temperature, both with auto restart. Over current and short circuit protection are also standard.

Applications envisaged by the company include ventilators, respirators, endoscopes, lab equipment, dental systems and all types of mobile applications.

Specifically, the power supplies are BF rated, feature Class I & II isolation and meet all appropriate medical equipment standards including IEC/UL60601-1 Edition 3.1. and IEC/UL60601-1-2 Edition 4 (EMC).

Vox Power writes:

Importantly, power solutions of 300W, 600W, 900W and beyond can be achieved by using the onboard droop current share function, which allows end users to scale up or down depending on their power requirements.

Input voltage range is 85 to 264VAC (0.99 power factor) and output voltages are set initially at 12, 24 and 48VDC with inbetween voltages up to 58VDC available on request. Figures for load and line regulation as well as ripple and noise are excellent while no load power consumption is below 1W.

The VCCS300M comes with a 5 year warranty.
