Silent 300W PSUs for medical or industrial use

Vox Power has added more voltage options to its medical and industrial VCCS300 fan-less 300W power supplies.

Standard outputs are now 12, 15, 24, 28, 36, 48 or 56Vdc, and custom versions between 12 and 58V can be arranged.

The 54 x 101 x 40mm (4 x 2 x 1.61 inch) power supplies will run from ac voltages between 85 and 264V, although they must be de-rate linearly from 300W at 120Vrms to 212.5W at 85Vrms.

On the subject of derating, each different output voltage model has its own ambient temperature above which in needs to be derated – consult the data sheets for this one as it is complicated – 12V version derating actually begins at 0°C and is already down to 240W at 20°C. All are down to 54W at the top ambient of 70°C. Minimum operating temperature is -40°C.

Conduction and forced-air cooling are possible, and outputs of 600W or 900W can be achieved by combining multiple units and using the on-board droop current sharing. Efficiency can be as high as 95% (48V version, 220Vin).

There are two variants of VCCS300 with different approvals: VCCS300M for medical use and VCCS300S for industrial use.

They, depending on variant, meet “the latest international medical – BF Rated – and ITE safety approvals and are suited for use in ventilators and lab equipment as well as battery charging and PoE applications in addition to the more established industrial, IT and medical markets.,” according to the company. “The product is suitable for class I or II equipment up to 5,000 m and carries multiple immunity and MIL-STD approvals including MIL-STD 810G, MIL-STD 461F, and MIL-STD 704F making them perfect for applications in rugged and high-vibration environments.”

Standard warranty is five years.

Vox Power is based in Ireland.
