Arrow takes Nvidia’s Jetson Xavier computer to the edge of AI

In a bid to advance AI and robotics, Arrow Electronics will offer Nvidia’s latest Jetson Xavier AI computer. The computer is designed to create autonomous machines in industrial settings.

According to Nvidia, the collaboration with Arrow and its customer database will “open the door to the development and deployment of AI solutions for manufacturing, logistics, smart cities, healthcare and more”.  The Jetson Xavier is capable of 30TOPS (trillion operations per second) on a low power budget. It has six processors, Arm’s eight-core 64 CPU, a Volta Tensor Core GPU and the company’s deep learning chips for AI and machine learning and image processing.

The Jetson Xavier development kit, available through the distributor’s website, includes JetPack and JetPack software development kits (SDKs) together with Cuda, CuDNN and TensorRT software libraries.

The Xavier processor is claimed to provide more computing capability than a workstation and has three, energy-efficient operating modes.
