Dual precision op-amp for automotive sensor signal conditioning

ST has created a dual precision op-amp for automotive sensor signal conditioning, with 20µV input offset voltage and 100nV/°C drift, and operation over 4 to 36V and -40 to 125°C.

ST TSB182 automotive precision opamp

Input common mode range for TSB182, as it will be known, is from its negative rail to within 2V of its positive rail, and the output is rail-to-rail. Maximum offset is 30µV over the full temperature range. AEC-Q100 qualified devices will be available.

“The input noise voltage of 24nV/√Hz fulfils applications that demand high resolution and sensitivity,” said ST. “The devices are also hardened against electromagnetic interference for enhanced performance in electrically noisy environments.”

Gain-bandwidth product is 3MHz, slew rate is 2V/µs, and consumption is typically 650μA per amplifier.

Packaging is 3 x 4.9mm MiniSO-8, and an SO-8 version is in the pipeline for later this year.

The company also sees them being adopted for industrial equipment and sad: “Having rail-to-rail outputs, these op amps help designers take full advantage of the available signal dynamic range and ease circuit design in applications including sensor interfaces and battery-powered equipment.”
