Learn LabView to win NI Test Workflow software and equipment

Members of the element14 community can sign up for an educational programme which the Avnet community is hosting in collaboration with NI. Called A Beginner’s Course in LabView and Test Automation, the programme is designed to introduced members to automated testing.

The first prize is a year’s subscription to NI’s Test Workflow software, Pro edition, which includes LabView. The second and third prizes are a year’s subscription to the Standard edition and an MP720011 US digital oscilloscope and a year’s subscription to the Standard edition and a USB soldering iron, respectively.  Fourth prize is a year’s subscription to the Standard edition software and an infrared thermometer, recipients of an honourable mention will receive the Standard edition software and a handheld multimeter. All challengers will receive a finisher prize, the Multicomp Pro’s MP700393 4PCE ESD electronics cutter kit.

To qualify for the prizes, participants need to engage in the course material, which includes reading lessons, completing quizzes, and successfully executing the final test automation project using the LabView Community Edition software and Raspberry Pi Pico (available from element14). Participants will be awarded points based on their quiz scores and their final project. There are five questions in the quiz and it is possible to retake the quiz but each subsequent test score is deducted two points. The second part of the competition is to construct a test automation project and submit a blog about the project. Judges will be looking for creativity and technical merit in the blog which should describe methodology and results as well as comments on what has been learned and any tips that will help others.


Applications for the program are open now and close on 8 September. The selected candidates will be announced on 15 September when the challenge will begin. Quizzes must be completed by 5 October and projects blogs must be submitted by 21 October. Ther winners will be announced in November. open and will be accepted until September 8. On September 15, the chosen participants will be announced, marking the commencement of the challenge. Quizzes must be completed by October 5, and project blogs are due by October 21. Winners of the program will be unveiled in November 2023.


The grand prize winner will receive the LabVIEW Base Edition Software and the Multicomp Pro MP720011 US Digital Oscilloscope. Additionally, the runner-up will be awarded the LabVIEW Base Edition Software and the Multicomp Pro MP730424 EU-UK Digital Multimeter Bench. All challengers will receive a finisher prize, the Multicomp Pro’s MP700393 4PCE ESD Electronics Cutter Kit.
