Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show preview: Connectors boosted by smart factory moves

The move towards the smart factory also means an increase in demand for robust and reliable signal, communication and power connections.

Connectors designed for the growing sensors and controls market will be showcased by Binder (C110).

The company designs and manufactures circular connectors for a variety of applications – such as automation, industrial data, communications systems and medical equipment – and will showcase many examples at this year’s show.

Visitors will be able to discuss the HEC series of connectors, designed specifically for use in harsh environments.

The 696 HEC power connector series is available in both cable and panel‑mount formats with 4+PE silver plated male or female contacts.

It handles up to 32A at a rated voltage of 600V.

They are waterproof and dustproof to IP68/IP69k, suitable for process engineering plants, water purification facilities and recycling equipment as well as traffic and signalling systems.

5G connectors

Coax Connectors (B75) will show a range of connectors for use in 5G applications.

There will also be a selection of connectors for harsh environments and single channel 12G connectors, including the Korus BNC and Micro BNC (HD-BNC) ranges for 4K Ultra HD and 12G-SDI video applications.

The China connection

Investment in UK and China facilities enables Selwyn Electronics (G140) to offer the best possible prices on all cable assemblies, says the company.

The range includes miniature to industrial circular (in both metal and plastic versions), ribbon cable, custom‑moulded, waterproof, coax, SATA (in custom lengths), FFC, crimp and IDC, and telecomms assemblies.

The company can also offer a full cable assembly service for the ODU range of connectors from the ODU‑approved UK facility.

Both facilities are ISO accredited and all assemblies are 100% electronically tested.
