Atmel expands Scottish smartcard site

Atmel has secured a Government grant of £1.2m to help fund an expansion of its semiconductor design activities in Scotland. Number three foundry Chartered Semiconductor has posted third quarter revenue of $257.3m, up one per cent sequentially and 87 per cent year over year.
