Rohde & Schwarz scope displays the time/frequency correlations

09mar16rohde-300x200.jpg

Rohde & Schwarz’s RTO2000 multi-domain oscilloscope can be used to display the correlations between time, frequency, protocol and logic analysis measurement results. Using the scope’s analogue input channels, it is possible to simultaneously observe the signal in the time and frequency domain, and if desired, the spectrogram. New functions include peak list, max. hold detectors and a logarithmic display. A new zone ...

A Gloomy Q1 and a Lacklustre Year.

It’s not looking like a good start to the year. Bill Jewell at Semiconductor Intelligence points out that some companies are expecting a big decline for Q1 compared to Q4: 6% at Intel, 8% at Qualcomm, 9% at Micron, 10% at Nvidia, 11% at MediaTek and 6.9% at TI. The only company expecting a better Q1 than Q4 is Infineon. ...

Graphene solar cell breakthrough ‘sees’ like a moth

Surrey-Solar-300x200.png

Solar cell conversion efficiency could be dramatically increased if graphene research at the University of Surrey can be commercialised. The researchers say they have demonstrated how graphene can be manipulated to create the most light-absorbent material for its weight, to date. The discovery was made as part of research the Surrey team has been doing in cooperation with BAE Systems ...

Raspberry Pi 3 is IoT hub, at last

pitop_web-300x200.jpg

Raspberry Pi 3 may now have a 64-bit quad-core ARM processor, but this is not the big news on this the fourth anniversary of the tiny educational and maker computer module. Raspberry Pi 3 can now be used as a wirelessly internet-connected hub. It is now an internet of things (IoT) hub. Makers have been using add-on modules to provide ...

A digital map of Mars plots the way for ExoMars

Mars-map-300x200.jpg

Room has to be found on Gadget Master for this one. Okay, it’s not a gadget, or self-built, but it is “state-of-the-art cartography technology” and it tickles my fancy. A digital map of Mars from the good people at the Ordnance Survey (OS). Explore Margaritifer Terra, circumnavigate Becquerel, jump into Aram Chaos… The OS has always been the trusted mainstay ...
