Automotive 10Gbit/s+ Ethernet connector has push-fit PCB pins

Ennovi has introduced a 10Gbit/s Ethernet connector with USCAR interface and press-fit PCB pins.

Called Ennovi-Net, “this innovation completely avoids the need for soldering”, the company said. “As solder usage is eliminated, there are no variations in the amount of solder paste applied and the capacitance associated with this. In addition, the shortness and lower capacitance of press-fit pins, compared to through-board solder pins, means resonance is reduced.”

The next day, Wirth advocated press fit PCB power connectors for automotive reliability

Operation is over -40 to +105°C and at least 25 mating cycles.

Customisation for board and connector interface positioning is available – Tier 1 suppliers are the intended market – and applications are foreseen in automated driving control units, zone controllers, radars, sensors and power train controllers.
