Awards celebrate women and diversity in electronics

A change in the role and perception of women in electronics has undoubtedly changed but to maintain momentum, Electronics Weekly’s Women Leaders in Electronics Awards has been created to recognise and inspire more progress.

One of the judges for this year’s Awards, Paulette Watson, founder and MD, Academy Achievers & STEM Academy Achievers, Ghana, says: “Initiatives like the Women Leaders in Electronics Awards play a crucial role in shedding light on the achievements of women in the field and fostering a more inclusive environment”.

Andy Sellars, strategic development director, Compound Semiconductor Applications Catapult, says “The electronics industry is growing rapidly, creating new challenges that require a diverse range of ideas, skills and experience. Without this diversity of thought, it will be very difficult for us to celebrate and recognise the amazing achievements of women. . . and to raise the profile of electronics as a whole so that we can encourage the next generation of women to consider a career in electronics”.

Paulette agrees, “Entering the Women Leaders in Electronics Awards is an opportunity to celebrate individual accomplishments and contribute to the more significant cause of promoting diversity in the electronics industry.. . . By sharing our experiences and achievements, we stand a chance to be recognised and this plays a role in breaking down barriers and encouraging more women to pursue leadership roles in electronics.

Be a part of the celebration. Enter yourself and/or a colleague for the Women Leaders in Electronics Awards. Entries close 07 February.

The Women Leaders in Electronics Awards will be held on Tuesday 23 April 2024, in London’s De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms.
